Digital Video

I find that creating digital videos can be a lot of fun. I tried this with my students last year and they had a blast. Of course they were so excited! My students that struggled with writing had no problem with the storyboard. I guess the fact that they were going to use the flip cams for the first time was motivation enough to get them writing. After discussing the different angles of the camera with the students, I was impressed at how much they really paid attention to this. They turned out amazing and I will definately do this again with my students.

Digital Video

Cooperative skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity are just a few of the many benefits that digital video can bring to the classroom. I have done digital video with my classroom before and I was so impressed on how well they worked together on creating their story boards. I struggled in creating a rubric for assessing the videos. Here is a great rubric that I found that could easily be modified for any grade level.

Podcasts

After being in class the other night, I realized that Podcasts have many different tools that I think would help my students. They would clearly motivate my students who do not like to write. I have some students that just like to hear themselves talk, so this is clearly up their alley. I'm just not sure when I have time to fit all of this technology into the classroom. I find that I will just have to pick and choose. I can definitely see my students making a podcast on the civil war interviewing from both sides.
