Podcasts
After being in class the other night, I realized that Podcasts have many different tools that I think would help my students. They would clearly motivate my students who do not like to write. I have some students that just like to hear themselves talk, so this is clearly up their alley. I'm just not sure when I have time to fit all of this technology into the classroom. I find that I will just have to pick and choose. I can definitely see my students making a podcast on the civil war interviewing from both sides.

What a great idea for a lesson plan! They could develop reenactment podcasts. Think of the sound effects they might use. Or they can do interviews, on-the-scene reporters recounting what they saw. In any of these, tons of research, planning, and writing need to happen--all adding to the learning power of podcast productions.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the civil war podcast. Understanding how both sides felt and putting a human touch to the war would be a very powerful learning experience for your students. I can see your lesson plan starting!!
ReplyDeleteYup, I have students who would love listening to themselves talk too! I totally understand what you mean about having to pick and choose which technologies to use in your classroom. I often feel the same way. We come home from class on Wednesday night, and I think, "Wow! I definitely want to do this in my classroom." I say that too much! I pace myself, and only do a little at a time. I really like your civil way idea. I think that will be a great experience for the kiddos.
